Why don’t you pass out Healthy Halloween treats this year?
Your kids are bombarded with sugar ALL day every day and especially on Halloween.
There’s the Halloween party in class, then the one at dance, followed by the party in Karate, finally trick or treating in the evening. Each Halloween party comes with a bag of candy and a whole lotta sugar.
1- Processed sugar depletes the body from energy. It’s an energy zapper. Sure it gives you a rush but then it comes with a crash which leads to exhaustion, fatigue, cravings and irritability.
The USDA recommends no more than 10 teaspoons of sugar a day; however, one can of soda contains 40 grams of sugar which is 4x more the recommended dosage. No wonder the kids experience sugar coma on Halloween, some of them consume 5-6 times the recommended dose.
Processed sugar lacks vitamins and minerals and it’s also addictive. Try giving it up for one day: you’ll get headaches, irritability, cravings, fatigue and so much more.
Sugar is everywhere. Your kids are bombarded with it on a daily basis.
2- Halloween is about fun , wearing costumes, looking pretty decorating, carving pumpkins and not crashing, depleting your body from vitamins, minerals and energy not by overdosing on processed sugar. In addition getting sick , getting tummy aches. The immune system shuts down when processed sugar is consumed.
