Ok fine you want to know everything about me 😉 I get it
There it is:
I am married to an amazing person, Dimitri ! I know it’s cliche to say that but he is the most selfless person I have ever met. You know the saying ” takes his clothes off his back” He LITERALLY does it ! He is my biggest supporter ! I can’t thank him enough. I also have two kids ! Every story has a beginning so here is how it all started ! Ready, set, GO
I was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon ( here is the map). I survived the many Lebanese wars that lasted from when I was born ( if you insist, I was born in 1979-there now you know my age LOL) until 1992. However the instability continues until this day. I haven’t visited since 2007.
I went to the same Catholic School from Kindergarten to High School during which I graduated in 1996.
I grew up eating Lebanese food but I did not eat vegetables. The only two vegetables I ate were carrots and cucumbers on occasions. I ate more fruits however but nothing to brag about. I did not eat Hummus or Tabbouli, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???
The first time I ever came to the U.S was in 1990 with my grandparents for a summer visit and I had so much fun visiting Disneyland , Universal Studios, etc… My sister and I visited my grandparents again in 1992. In 1996, I graduated high school in Lebanon and came to the U.S (specifically San Diego) to live with my grandparents and go to college.
In the U.S, I started eating fast food: McDonald’s, Taco Bell, etc… I was fascinated with drive-thrus because at the time we didn’t have them in Lebanon. Not to mention the candy, doughnuts, and coffee. oh and Starbucks.
When I was 19 , my acne was SO BAD. I tried accutane, antibiotics, birth control pills, and chemical peeling. They would clear my face for few months only.
In 2002, I graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communicative Disorders.
In 2004, I graduated from San Francisco State University with a Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
My husband and I got married in Lebanon in 2004 ( We have been together since 2001). We met online in 1998 ! WHAT!!!! Yes they had chat rooms back then LOL They were much more fun than social media now 😉
I started working at a nursing home in 2004 but after many patients died of old age, I could not take it anymore. In 2005, I took a position in the school district.
I had my first child in March of 2006, Geo. When I was pregnant with Geo, I ate a little healthier so I ate broccoli! My husband was so proud of that broccoli moment.
I had my second child in July of 2011, Avery. Few months after Avery was born, the HORROR called migraines would start.
I always used to get sinus infections but they never turned into migraines. I had to leave work and I could not move when I was home. I could not take care of my babies 🙁 I went to the specialists, went through testing and there was nothing wrong. All looked fine.
I could not live like this I was miserable. I started researching only to find out about the effect of food on our health and well-being.
I started the health journey that was and continues to be filled with ups and downs. I started doing it by myself then I educated my husband, kids and immediate family members and the ripple effect began.
In August of 2014, I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) to become a certified health coach and help myself and others.
I graduated from IIN in August of 2015.
